How Is It That Buddle & Findley Are Two of the Most-Talked About Transfer Window Targets in England?

BuddleFindley

So in the past two weeks Robbie Findley and Edson Buddle have been linked to every English side that is not part of "the Big Four" or owned by an American. According to various U.K. media outlets (which by nature are very* trustworthy) these two have Everton, Birmingham City, Wolverhampton, Stoke City, Nottingham Forest, and Bolton all up on their collective jock right now. Seriously y'all, it's crazy.

Edson I can see, Robbie not as much. But hey out of contract strikers who are under 30 and have World Cup experience aren't too easy to come by so maybe I shouldn't be so shocked that mid-to-lower tier English clubs would want to take a chance on the likes of these two. If you're trying to ball on a budget you could certainly do worse than a player who scored 17 goals in 2010 and a player who...um...Robbie Findley is fast, isn't he?

Oh yeah Robbie's fast. Real fast. Only reason he didn't score as many goals as Edson this season was he's too fast. Real fast. So fast that the passes from his teammates couldn't catch up to him. Maybe if he goes to England they can give him passes that are fast enough to catch up to him. But then Robbie will probably just run out of bounds. But I bet you'll never see someone run so fast out of bounds as he will. Real fast.

Findley is much better than this last season showed. He may not be an international level striker, but he's done very well for RSL over the past few seasons and is much more talented than anyone is giving him credit for.

But hey, what do EPL coaches know? Surely American soccer fans are much more knowledgeable...

Dude, he's basically Eddie Johnson 2.0, except 3 inches shorter. Same skill set. Same wasted speed.

"World Cup experience" is a nice way of putting it. I might describe it as "proving to be completely overmatched on the international level."

Them being out of contract after appearing at WC10 has quite a bit to do with it.
