Interesting. ESPN claimed in their feature on Gaetjens this past weekend that they were showing the only photo of the goal. In that photo, Gaetjens does not appear, and the ball is behind the keeper who is in the process of falling forward to the ground while and England defender looks back at the goal. I wonder if this is another photo or an imagined recounting of the goal.
I just did an image search, though, and this appears to be a legit AP photo. Whatsup, ESPN?
That's because Bumpy Pitch used the wrong picture. The one they show on their shirt is from a miss in that game. The picture here shows both: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/features/2768947/The-shocking-story-of-the-US-goalscorer-murdered-after-they-beat-England-in-1950.html The actual goal picture does not include Gaetjens in the frame (since he was making a diving header, which is impossible from his positioning in the bumpy pitch photo). Just them trying to whore out Gaetjens for $36 and mislead fans with an incorrect picture.
That's the spirit.
Thanks for clearing that up. I was skeptical.
even knowing its not of the actual goal, i still think it's a pretty cool tee. Unfortunately, $36 for a shirt is a little too spendy for me. Its too bad their stuff is so expensive, its pretty cool and at the right price, i'd defiantly be interested.
