MLS x Makaraba
With South Africa 2010 just 60-90 days away, it was only a matter of time before the makaraba surfaced in these United States. What I didn't expect was for it to surface representing an MLS team as I thought surely ESPN or perhaps one of the tournament's sponsors would incorporate the iconic South African soccer accessory into some sort of marketing campaign.
Instead, we've got an intrepid Red Bulls fan ordering one for himself all the way from Cape Town's Makoya Makaraba. Which means that unfortunately we are all left with the high-probability that some corporation with a case of World Cup sponsorship-fever will give away 12.7 billion vuvuzelas at every soccer bar in the states come June. God help us all.
