The Stuart Holden Tackle (Updated)

Hopefully this isn't as bad as it looked. Any more injuries and we'll have to get Aetna as a front of shirt sponsor.

(UPDATE: This is bad. De Jong is whack. I am bummed.)

What a bogus tackle. I don't usually complain about referees, but this guy was awful.

On the basis of today's kicking and diving performance, de Jong has worked his was onto my "Athletes I Don't Like One Single Bit" list. I'm sure he'll be devastated.

That tackle had me seeing red and screaming at my TV. He had been one of the more promising players on the pitch, certainly moreso than Donovan was, and seeing him get taken out just sparked my temper like nothing else. Seeing him hold his head in his hands brought back visions of the 2006 World Cup England vs Portugal when Becks got injured and was in that same position: head in his hands and tears in his eyes.

Jamie,
I agree 100%. When he wasn't maiming other players, he was diving like Greg Louganus. He can eat a fat D.

Nigel, if you're reading this, don't come to Minneapolis. It's not safe for you here.

piece of shit thug. The dutch have skill, but their game today (uncalled late tackles coupled with diving) really made me hate this sport.

The Dutch are fuckin bitches and that ref was terrible. Should have been a red on De Jong. I really hope Holden is ok. Poor kid.

Jermaine "enforcer" Jones would have taken care of that de Jong fellow in good time. I'm surprised he didn't jump out of his seat in the stadium, limp over to the field, and slide tackle Nigel right there.

God I'm so hoping Jermaine Jones gets healthy and can start taking out revenge

I had the same exact injury almost two years ago, and from the prognosis and replay, Stu came out better than I did because he managed to limp off the field; I couldn't even put weight on it. Six weeks out is also good; I was out for almost 15 weeks with my fracture. With that said, De Jong deserved more than a yellow.

The piece of shit had no fucking remorse whatsoever. He even tried to play to it off like Holden was faking it, tried to pull him up off the ground. If he'd just said, "Okay, ya got me", took the card and walked away that'd be one thing, but like a fucking shmuck, he just kept it fucking going, fucking with Holden and bitching to his teammates about the play. Fucking pussy. I'm seriously hoping for a rematch in the Cup.

Time to add the Dutch to Me Hi Co as Internationals we need to always hate.

Funny, for some reason I thought the Dutch were O.K. NOT
