Do You Think Anyone in This Photo Not Named Deuce Will Play in The World Cup?

Drankin

Question: do you think any of the people in this picture other than Clint Dempsey will make Bobby Blue Eyes' World Cup squad? I've thought about it and I honestly don't know. I think Jose Torres has the best shot followed by Run-DMB, providing he stays healthy and hot at Rangers.

After that it's a crapshoot at best. Freddy & Eddie are off to play for a club so obscure that neither Eurosport or any other soccer shop of repute bother to carry their kit. Gooch will most likely still be nowhere near match fit because even if he has recovered from his injury he'll be riding pine at AC Milan. And I'm not even sure who that guy between Freddy and DaMarcus is. What happened to all my young Americans?

Life happened SF.
Life.

I still have hope for a good showing in 2010, but damn if I'm not worried about the future.

Gooch, and Beasley will play. Jose "The real reason Honduras is in the World Cup" Torres will be in the 23 man squad at least, but who knows if Bob will actually use him.

Adu and EJ. No chance. I have a prediction, neither of them will score a goal for Aris FC this season.

That's not Robbie Findley is it?

Nice to see Torres hanging out with the boys, I wondered how he fit in (but I guess some grande-ass margaritas help). He will be in the 23, but unfortunately will not play. Gooch will be there as well.

Where is this picture from?

Goodness, I hope Torres is in the 23 and plays a real role with the team. He's such a great midfielder, and as much as people like Feilhaber, I think Jose would be a better pairing with Bradley in the middle. A sort of Song/Fabregas pairing.

I don't know who that guy is either.

Dale - That was exactly my reaction, too: Good to see the guys have welcomed Torres into the fold. He's got a future with this team.

i definitely think torres and gooch have a legit shot, but they'll both have to work hard. this world cup should be a tough one for us even with a good draw. there are just so many injuries and players not getting time.

On the slim chance that anyone actually cares, you can get your Aris gear here:

Which is not meant to indicate that Aris are not obscure. They are indeed. EJ and Adu will both score goals -- that is not even in doubt -- but it will be nothing to brag about. Scoring against the likes of Levadiakos FC is like scoring against a very good U17 side in the states. This has got to be a career ending move for these guys in terms of the NT. The Greek Super League is so corrupt and inept that Tomasz RadziƄski barely lasted a single season after he moved there on a free from Fulham (due to how disgusted he was at the corruption - read the Wikipedia entry on him for a mention of this). Radzinski, though considered no longer able to compete in the EPL, was able to absolutely shred the various Greek Teams' defenses. This is a horrible move for both players, but now you have the link if for some bizarre, sick reason you want to rock an EJ Aris jersey.

Looks like Robbie Findley to me, too.
