Scotland: Help Us Stuart Holden, You're Our Only Hope
What do you guys think? Should there be a concert effort to get the Scottish football following public behind Scotsman Stuart Holden and the U.S. at the World Cup? Or is it too hokey to play the ethnic card? Discuss.
I don't see how anybody that watched that kid play on Friday couldn't get behind whatever team he played with. If he played for England I might not stand up.
Holden is a B team starter, not an A team guy. He just isn't that calibre. He's a top notch MLS player. But keep in mind that the average MLS player makes, oh, $24,000 per year, has 2-3 side jobs, and brings his own food on road trips.
Plus, MLS players get carded all the time in international tournies because MLS allows insanely dangerous play (look at Brian Ching doing the cowardly tackle on the LA Galaxy defender again - he doesn't even get a yellow!). MLS thinks a cowardly studs-up launch into an opponents ankle is "good tough soccer". It isn't. A defender knocking you on your ass as you try to dribble the ball past him is good tough soccer. The MLS will never understand this. I'm just waiting for an MLS player to start digging in his shorts for a foreign object to beat his opponent with, like in pro wrestling.
I have a hard time taking anything 'Anonymous at 1:23' says about MLS, or the quality of its players, when he/she says the average MLS player makes 24K a year and that you can judge a player's quality solely on a wages.
Top notch MLS players are critical to our National Team, and will be for years to come.
I love him, also he will be a starter in the next world cup the only reason he doesn't start is because he plays the same position as landon donovan and clint dempsey. as a side note donovan is an mls player and dempsey just left mls as did stu.

Hey they have to follow someone since they aren't in it, the Irish won't be in it and neither will Wales. And they sure as shit won't support England.

I'll care about Stuart Holden when he publicly announces his torrid affair with a certain Boswell.
Until then, I just don't.
