Thank God he's alive, but this really puts in doubt if he'll be in South Africa next summer, or even if he can ever play again
from what i know about the human body it sounds like charlie davies did the eduardo :( this sucks im depressed...

the femur is in the upper leg. a break there is usually more serious that a lower leg break (tibia ,fibula or both. So it is probably worse than eduardo's injuries.
God, I want to scream, or pound on something. I'm so saddened by this -- for the girl who was killed, for the guy who I now instinctively call "Charlie," for his career, for the American soccer family... for all of us.
It's always, like, a random Tuesday afternoon, you know?
That's exactly how I feel. It sounds like his leg (haven't heard which one) was pretty well crushed. Just awful.
Pretty close to a lot of the team members, it was his right femur and tibia, facial fractures, and left elbow fracture. Also a laceration to his bladder. Surgery took over 5 hours.. he is now in stable yet serious condition and will remain in the hospital for another week to undergo more surgeries to fix his elbow and facial fractures. It will be about 6-12 months of healing and rehab.. should be able to play again at this point however.
Eduardo only broke his fibula and dislocated his ankle. The risk in that case was ligament and or artery damage.
However in the case of a broken femur, it may be very difficult for him to regain the pace and mobility that he had before.
Sad to hear about Charlie his a great guy hope he gets better. I had a similar injury as he did except I denide the titanium plates back in May of 1995. My Femur was aligned and held in place with a full body cast. Took 4 months to heal however by March of 1996 I set a speed record in Texas. For the fastest 400m dash so lets pray, and hope Charlie can suck in the pain of rehabe like I did back in 1996. So he can be back in the field for the USA.
Charlie is in out thoughts hopefully he recovers from his injueries. hopefully hes make its threw and would be able to play in the world cup. he's a big help to US MNT. fight it threw Charlie, Gods with you.
