Portland Timbers: How Can You Not Appreciate That Sh*t?

Nearly 35 years of history, a 23 match unbeaten streak and 13K in the stands on Saturday night; basically Portland are the anti-Red Bull (even though RBNY did manage a surprise win yesterday despite Mac Kandji and Dane Richards best efforts to thwart it at the end by being unintelligent glory-seekers and not taking the ball to the corner). If anyone in Rose City would like to tell me what success on the field and in the stands at the same time feels like don't hesitate share because it's a sensation I have never experienced. I'm told it's the sporting equivalent of being cupped and stroked at the same time.

It's a definite sack tickle for sure.

We've actually grown our support amongst mediocre and downright awful squads over the last few seasons. So, yeah, this season is super special and we're all soaking it up. 23 unbeaten is surreal and the squad are first rate. Every one of them.

Three correx:

1) 23 games *unbeaten*, not all *victorious*

2) the 13,845 was a *Saturday* night crowd

3) I just cupped & stroked myself for point of comparison; this = better.

Cupping and stroking of Portland seems to be all the rage at TOR recently. We get it, you dig the atmosphere. Let's move on.

As a Chivas USA season ticket holder (yeah, you know Chivas USA, the only MLS team to see a raise in their attendance over last year) excluding the two month hiccup in June and July, success on and off the field is pretty awesome. Thanks for asking.

Timbers are the ish. They keep getting better and better. Plus, they have the best fan club in US Soccer hands down. 0 corporate BS

Its pretty special what's going on here in the Rose City. Do folks realize how LOUD it is in the stadium right now, come MLS it's going to be the loudest stadium in the league. Period. The below ground shape, combined with the old wooden roofs over the stands just keeps the sound in.

Funny thing is, two years ago we came within a penalty kick of making the final and then last season we finished dead last yet we actually grew our attendance by 25% with a crappy team!

Props to our owner and our manager for going out and finding ballers. This is one hell of a fun team to watch. Slick passing, great runs off the ball, lots of characters. I suspect we see a few of them in MLS Timbers jerseys. Cronin, Pore, Keita, Danso, Claesson to name a few.

Don't know if you saw but last week against Montreal our captain and ironman Cameron Knowles went down with a double compound fracture of the his lower leg. Gone for the season. Everything from here on out is dedicated to CK6.
