The Deep Read on Kyle Martino

Martino

From the Connecticut Post comes the longest article I think I have ever seen on Kyle Martino. Honestly, I don't think the dude got this much ink when he was playing. Or when he was on The Price is Right. I guess it's like they say and that you are never appreciated until they are gone. Or you are on ESPN.

Personally, I think the Davis/Martino pair is as good of an announcing team as we've ever seen in American soccer. The two know the game well and, for the most part, don't get in the way of watching the match. It will be nice when ESPN realizes we want to watch the soccer match, as opposed to want to listen to two guys blathering on about Beckham.

Yeah, I remember during a Seattle game when the crowd was going good they kinda just stepped back and let the audience soaked it in for minutes at a time. It's a bold move, and I don't think it works unless the crowd is making noise, but on that night it worked!

I remember the days of Randall Alvarez doing interviews and also sharing opinions with other ESPN guys, he is from Costa Rica, and that country he wasn't famous, until he landed on ESPN.
