Fu-Gee-La: The Alex Nimo Story

The local Fox affiliate in Portland did a piece on the Timbers/Real Salt Lake young'un Alex Nimo. I love the loan move on RSL's part and it would be nice to see more MLS clubs do this with their prospects so long as they are getting to actually play with the USL clubs. No sense sending somebody somewhere else to ride oine when they could do that at home.

Nimo has been a joy to watch. He is extremely quick and has a lovely touch with the ball.

Dynamo has been doing this all year. Tyler Deric and Mike Chabala have been playing with the Austin Aztex, while John Michael Hayden has been with the Cleveland City Stars.

No one develops talent and depth like Dynamo, but with the ridiculous dissolution of the Reserve League, a new strategy had to be developed by Canetti and Kinner, hence the loan moves. You're right SF, it's a great approach.

^^^ Word!!

It's shameful that MLS dissolved its Reserve League. Soccer in this country will never develop to the highest level until we take academies and youth development seriously!!

It's frustrating to watch American MLS players struggle to trap the ball, use both feet, and turn with the ball, let alone deliver a solid cross from the wing. Name 10 great American wingers in MLS who can actually consistently deliver a good ball?

We are so far away and please don't let the Confederations Cup run blind you to our shortcommings as a Soccer Nation. 11 guys working their asses off for 2 to 3 games does not mean that the rest of us have arrived.
