The Worst Article You Will Read All Day

Cathal

See that guy in the photo above that looks like a pc? His name is Cathal Kelly and he's a columnist for the Toronto Star. Today he's written one of the most misinformed reads about MLS (and David Beckham) that I have ever laid brown eyes upon. I don' t know how many minutes he spent doing research. 3? 7 perhaps? Again I'm not sure, but what I am sure of is that this article is written by someone whose ignorance --and I use this term not as a swipe but because Webster's definition really suits best here-- of Major League Soccer is staggering.

He has no idea what he's talking about. He must have changed the article but he originally said that MLS had no national TV deal.

This guy has a brutal track record with factual inaccuracies. This is just another car at the end of the convoy.

Thanks for posting this, SF. Crappy reporters like this guy need to be called out for the swill they put to paper.

Wow. Either it's complete provocation, or that guy has serious issues with soccer. Maybe the cool kids wouldn't let him play when he was just a little boy.

The fact that he published this in Toronto, which has one of the largest and greatest fan bases for MLS out there makes this article even more incredible. He should have his journalist license revoked. When I make a trip up to Toronto to catch a game this year, I shall burn him in effigy.

He's one of those smug "MLS is pish but I'll cover it cuz I have to" soccer elitist journalists.

any you linked to this (and give this schmuck hits) why exactly?

People like him (and Trecker the Younger) are best ignored

I'm from Toronto and that douchebag was on probably the most popular sports radio show today, he continued to spout off the same crap, even going so far as stating MLS is contracting?!?!?! this guy has 0 clue

This hoser doesn't understand that MLS has been built on slow, steady, solid growth of people who love the game, not the names. I think bringing Beckham over a couple years ago was a great move because it brought a lot of media attention, new sponsors, and new fans. But him leaving won't be the worst thing ever because the league has a strong foundation.

I'm from T.O and we've been lashing out at this guy for some time. He is the stock sport reporter for the Toronto Star - he definately has issues with soccer/football - not just MLS. An you're right - he never really seems to bother researching. In fact I think he enjoys talking shit.
