In my current state of bedriddeness(don't sleep on those flu shots kids) I've been catching up on my Youtube-watching. Is it just me or is the idea of a marching band for a soccer team a little off? I thought it was funny and eccentric when Drew Carey announced it but after hearing them in this clip, I think it would get old for me really quick. Does seem a little NASL or is it just me?

Can someone ask Drew for me if Barcelona has a Marching Band?
Marching bands suck no matter what sport they're connected to. Drew’s Ohio roots are showing with this particular decision.
drew is the only person- including SSFC fans, who like this marching band idea
i don't see the sense in this whatsoever.
As a Sounders fan, I don't really see the band as negative or positive, I just don't really think about it.
I like marching bands, at parades and college football games etc., but this is a little dumb. Drew Carey killed a guy once.
Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame
But since Drew uses every opportunity to big-up soccer, MLS, and our nat team, he can have whatever the hell he wants.
this is the stupidest and lamest thing for MLS and soccer. but anyways, thats his choice. i just cant wait for college nerds be like "hey ! hey ! hey !, you copied my idea dude". marching bands are stupid. sorry.
It doesn't so much seem NASL to me as it does College Football.
Not to split hairs, but I don't think they'll be a "marching" band. If they sit in a distant corner of the stands, I don't see the difference if they play a recording of the lame theme song (opening of the video) or if they play it live. The band is the last thing I'm thinking about, and no more lame than many things MLS.
And, yes, I know the theme song was composed by Henry Mancini, but it's still lame. Talk about NASL circa 1974....
Hey, I like it!!!
No I don't, this sucks.
How 'bout you all go watch "Drum Line" and then come back to this topic. However, I will admit that I doubt the band leader is from some A&M school in the south, so they probably won't be nearly as good as the bands from the movie, but it still proves that Marching Bands aren't inherently bad.
"Drumline" does not have examples of good marching bands. They're good show bands, but there is so much more that can be done musically and visually.
will the band go with the supporterrs songs???? if not then lame if yes then kool....
Drew is a comedian and he's giving everyone a good laugh.
I agree with above, if the band could coordinate with the crowd it could be quite a scene.
I've seen what the Grambling Marching Band can do to a crowd. Now we know what we will see at the beginning, halftime & end of every game. I'd imagine whenever we score a goal we'd hear a song as well. Get used to it.
