Logan's Revenge Back With a, Erm, Vengence

Chivas

The most unexpected thing to happen while I was on holiday last week was not Blanco's freak out, nor was it Sepp Blatter's slavery comments, or the Superliga share-cropping revelation. It was the long overdue return of Not Doug Logan. Before there was MLS Underground and The Blog Who Shall Not Be Linked to, there was Logan's Revenge spilling beans and dropping scoop all over a Blogspot page. He is your MLS gossip grand-dad.

Below is an exceprt from his return post that I found most interesting:

"Man, all of those pie-in-the-sky dreams of Chivas being a winning brand in the US in the form of a MLS team is not going exactly to plan. Only averaging 4500 tickets sold per game, how long before we should start worrying about the team folding? Actually, relocation is far more likely. Team owner Antonio Cue was approached by a potential buyer a while back (for relocation), but Cue didn't want to sell at the time. If ticket sales don't pick up soon, mounting financial losses may leave him no option next time an offer comes down the pike."

Now we've all flipped the TV over to a Chivas USA home game at one point or another said to yourself "I've seen more people in line at the DMV than are in those stands" but 4,500 tickets per game is just so sad that I immediately began Googling for florist in Carson, CA and the address of the front office at the Home Depot Center. I'd hate to see another club relocation buuuuuuuuuuuut…….St. Louis is just gaging to build a stadium you know.

With InBev buying Anheuser-Busch, I wonder if St. Louis' chances of landing an MLS team have been dented. InBev is well known for not advertising, so it's pretty safe to say that Anheuser-Busch won't be putting as much money into sports as they once did. Will this affect Jeff Cooper's attempt to land a franchise? It might, it might not...

I'd put money down on Vancouver or Montreal being the next expansion destination. Especially Montreal, given its large population and media market (though, of course, outside of the US).

I thought Vergara owned Chivas, you know...the billionaire.

Chivas USA is a walking billboard for the Chivas brand in the 2nd largest Mexican City in the world.

It's not going anywhere.

Besides, due the single entity...he's not losing any money.
