If ever there was a case for a Goal of the Week write-in, Jacob Peterson's one-time screamer against DC United on Sunday is it. But alas there is no such option so the Super Delegate representing the State of New Jersey is voting for David Beckham "goal A" as this week's Goal of the Week (Goldenballs has 2 of the 5 nominated strikes).
If you haven't seen the Peterson goal, go here. Then ask yourself how Van den Berg's was even in the running.

Wow, I had not seen that goal until just now. Spectacular. Beckham's goals were amazing as well. I am not sure which goal I will vote for...
I can't remember, did this happen a lot last year with the Sunday games? Maybe the MLS suits are just too lazy to pay attention to what happens to Sunday games?
Or maybe the league doesn't want to nominate out of fear the squawking turkey fans will suddenly realize that they can't walk on water???
I've noticed that the Telefutura Sunday games are never included in the QuickKicks on MLSnet which I bet has something to do with their TV rights deal with that network. But as for Goal of the Week's last of Sunday inclusion, who knows.
The beauty of Petey's goal is the would be cut back Wells was probably looking for that quickly turns into an upper V screamer.
Rapids fun fact: The Rapids golden boot award is currently being contested as a ten way tie as no one of the ten goal scorers has scored more than one goal.
After spending the weekend out of town, I went trolling through MLSnet this morning and saw highlights opf all of the games. I am shocked (SHOCKED!) that Becks' two goals, while class strikes, especially the run of play one, are both in that list and Peterson's is not. I think Peterson's is better because it's more of a team thing receiving sublime service from Gomez.
Martek, right on. The Beckham goals are brilliant but the Peterson goal camne from some amazing work by Gomez who turned on his defender, left him for dead and put the ball perfectly in Peterson's path. Then, as I said in my blogpost, he walloped in a screamer. Peterson does this a lot in training.
