Photo of the Day: The New-Look Crew Stadium

Crew

Weird to see Crew Stadium enter the land of stage-end stadiums, right? Though it might take some getting used to and is not the most aesthetically pleasing thing it's probably going to be for the best. If this helps them book more concerts it will probably help them get a naming rights deal...and both of those things mean more money, less problems.

There are no words for how much that stage disgusts me. I watched Brad Friedel and Brian McBride play for the Crew from those seats. I watched WC qualifies from those seats, although now saddly probably never again. I hope it is worth it for a couple of extra concerts that are going to wreck the pitch. Way to go geniuses.

I hope it nets them extra cash from concerts, but good grief it looks ugly.

However! One possible ray of hope. Temporary stands + couple thousand loud Sams Army supporters + low roof == chants and songs reflect and radiate out loud.

It's only really a matter of time before the Crew leaves Columbus anyway. There's no way they'll still be there in 10 years. Who the hell thought it was a good idea to put a team there in the first place? Ok, so I know it was Lamar Hunt, but who else really thought, "Oh yeah, Columbus is a soccer hotbed with a large media market and fans willing to not only put their butts in seats but also buy ugly yellow and black merchandise"?

Ugly.. Yes! should it bring in money to spend on the crew??I sure hope so. Any way to block off the stage with a giant curtain (or any other cover) to give it a better look? (if that is possible).

For soccer to continue growing in this country, it needs $$$... Those with $$ will be attracted if they can make $$ also..

Well, MLS's brand of prostitution does seem to be paying better than expected dividends.
I'm not going to complain. . . yet.
I need MLS to succeed. I need US soccer to succeed.
Whatever it takes. . . for now.

Crew fans shouldn't complain, their stadium finally has a roof.

They should put a giant yellow hard hat on top.

From the perspective of an FC Dallas fan...the stage sucks. When you are owned by HSG, more money equals same old lousy results.

Shame that the hard-cores (as they are) won't be able to do their thing behind the goal... not the "Party on the Pitch" end has ever been much of a party.

both of the crew supporters must be crushed.
