Drew Carey said it best when he declared the Super Bowl "a sham". Even after 2-weeks of ceaseless buildup, punditry & pageantry I was still underwhelmed -and my local team won! Since that over-hyped nonsense is over we can now fully concentrate on the big game this week...US-Mexico. Sorry Anglophiles but England-Switzerland isn't even in the running.
Prior to Wednesday evening's most unfriendly of friendlies, ESPN Classic is providing you with a little video-Viagra to help you get it up for the main event; they'll be dusting off last year's classic from Arizona for 12noon EST airing. If you haven't already thought about taking the day off, start developing a really juicy, hacking cough right about now.
And if you're not too familiar with the intensity of this rivalry, please review the following video to find out just how dirty (Mexico) & heated (the U.S.) these games tend to be.

more like dirty "sanchez" and heated mexico, heated usa.
Underwhelmed? Are you kidding me?
True, first 55 minutes--underwhelmed.
Last 5 minutes--asphyxiated.
Even the most rudimentary game can be reaffirmed with an epic rally such as the Giants put on during their final series.
Mind you, the Pat's were undefeated, we're *this close* to solidifying that perfect season, and, if had, would have gone down as the greatest team EVER. But then NY made some plays...and pulled out a gutty win.
How can you NOT be in awe of that?
Hype is subjectory. It doesn't really matter. It's about the game itself. And that game was breathtaking.
I'm going to my local pub to watch it tonight with some Screaming Eagles and American Outlaw supporters. American Outlaw is a USMNT supporter's club supposedly sponsored by Nike. They're giving out really cool shirts tonight with this on the back: http://inside.nikesoccer.com/downloads/800/383
Great marketing! I think it's a great idea to have soccer fans taking over pubs to show our strength. I'm psyched!!
I am more than a little suspicious of a Nike-supported supporters group that calls itself Outlaws.
And sorry to disagree, SF, but that was an absolutely riveting game on Sunday (of course, I like the Giants).
We shall agree to disagree...but it wasn't all that.
