Didn't see this one coming but with the way things are over at RBNY I guess we shouldn't be shocked. Clint Mathis has be traded to LA for a third round draft pick so says Ives. Surely he's got to be worth more than that but who knows who is pulling the trigger on this trade being that they have no head coach at the moment.
This will be a return to the team Clint began his career with and his 4th club in 4 seasons...and his missus cannot be happy with that. As a New York fan I will miss 13 Legend; he'll always be a Metro.
On the bright side though I was sitting behind the goal when he put in number 45 to become the all-time scoring leader for the franchise. And it was a cracker!!!!!

This is total bullshit. They get to keep Donovan because the Board of Govenors has decided that it's you get another year to avoid the DP rule and keep LandyBitch, and now they get Mathis?!
Why THE FUCK do I bother following this league. It's clear to me that they don't get what keeping a player in one market means to the fans that show up to see him.
I was thrilled with the results of "Mathis II the angry return" and it should've been extended.
I can't wait to see what the player's salaries are because everyone already knew that Cleetus was going to get a paycut and the other side of this trade might be a sign of what that is.
It's now time for this MLS to get away from writing contracts to players and let the franchises/brands/clubs/teams do it.
This is NOT at all what I wanted to read on the first day of the offseason.
Yep, off season shenanigans are in full effect from the jump this year.
Come on. I think you're missing the point here. Mathis is long past his prime and NYRB is better off without him. The draft pick is a much more valuable asset for the franchise at this point. This is a positive for RBNY and a big negative for LAG and Alexi Lalas. I mean, the guy is like some kind of franchise-destroying machine trodding across the landscape. He runs it like it's a fantasy team or something, and a bad one at that. What in THE hell is Clint Mathis going to contribute to the Galaxy? And with the shit and discord he'll bring out there, can you imagine how he'll react when Captain Goldenballs tries to settle him down?
For a long time I have been in a baseball fantasy league with a group of guys, one of whom is a friend of mine who shall remain nameless. His squad is my favorite team in the league because whenever I need to make a deal for any new jolt of energy, I just send an e-mail to this buddy of mine offering him, say, a warm bucket of pee for a 25-homer, 25-steal .280 hitter. Next thing I know, I'm right back in the race. Now, because I'm a canny guy and a friend, I don’t go to that well too often. The trick is knowing exactly the right balance to strike, to be aware of his roster, and then going fishing for what I need.
Lalas is kind of like that. If you're too eager in fleecing him, he catches on. But wait for the right moment and the contents of his pocket are yours for the sifting. The only problem is that if he's allowed to continue this, eventually he won’t have anything left to steal. So the time to strike is now.
The question I have for you is, after looking over the roster of your favorite team, and then taking a casual glance at the Galaxy's (somewhat-dwindling) list of assets, what deal do you think should be offered next and when. This game should keep us all rolling in laughs until next season, or when Lalas gets fired, whichever comes first.
Surely worth more? Based in what?
I found a lot of useful data in this post!
