If You Hate Running Tracks Around Pitches, You'll REALLY Hate This

I don't know what's more ridiculous; that someone wants to do this or that MLS has given even a provisional OK to the idea. A soccer stadium in the middle of a NASCAR track ...only in America would anyone even entertain the idea of such an unholy union.

I'm all for miscegenation in every form but this is the lamest idea since Jim Paglia proposed a rival league that would be played by dudes wearing unitards on multi-colored pitches at shopping malls with 8 refs (it's true look it up). I know there are dudes in Wisconsin who would kill their Granny to have the game come to town, but shame on anyone who supports such a jackassed endeavor.

The only way I support this is if they could get Cal Noghton Jr. in the midfield feeding balls to Ricky Bobby. If you ain't first you'r last baby!

please learn more about the project prior to leaping to conclusions. The stadium/field would NOT be in the middle of the infield (except on race days). On game days, the field would be flush against the main grandstand with 10k additional seats surrounding the field, which would move in and out to allow racing similar to the AZ Cardinals U. of Phoenix Stadium. It would be upgraded to include a canopy roof over most of the main grandstand, 20+ luxury suites, a stadium club overlooking the field, permanent concession, merchandise and restroom facilities. It would be a more intimate and permanent feeling stadium than BMO Field in TO.

I think there's a lot to question about the project without being dumb and saying "duh, NASCAR and MLS don't go together." I love this blog. I expect intelligent cynicism out of you. I don't understand how MLS fans can hate on NASCAR fans. They're both sports that are pretty much laughed at in the mainstream sports world and they're both sports you have to understand the specifics of it to enjoy.

I am so down with this idea if they can set it up so both sports take place at the SAME TIME.

NASCAR is stupid. There are no specifics to understand it's nuances. I can drive my Daddy's Buick around in circles and get the specifics. With the exception of providing a future for generations of bootleggers sons, NASCAR provides nothing back to industry or environment unlike F1, The American LeMans series or CART. Burst/IR/laser/multifreq tranmission, noise cancellation, semi automatic gearboxes, low emission diesel racing engines and alternative lower polutant fuels have come from these series. In comparison, NASCAR has made 'YEE HAW' an acceptable term to show support from the press box during network television coverage on raceday.

With that said this is a BRILLIANT idea! I've been there for Indycar races (before the breakup) and the location is awesome! This is as good as placing BMO field in the middle of the exposition center property that was appropriated for it.

Imagine hitting the state fair, a indycar (if they ever become one again) race and an MLS game in a 9 day period.

I am so friggin' down for this I don't know where to begin.

P.S. Congratulations. you've finally pissed off your readership enough to get them to dispute something without you. You're on your way to a CEO position with Whole Foods!
