Beef: It's in Seattle

Fuck whatcha heard about Seattle being a friendly, peaceful land filled with tech-millionaires, gourmet coffee, and precipitation. Ok, well the stuff about tech-millionaires, gourmet coffee, and precipitation may be true, but it ain't all peace & hippydom in Jet City.

It seems there's a bit of beef brewing in the local soccer circles centering around the redesign of the website SoundersCentral; what was once a space dedicated to the local USL side has now widened it's scope to focus on soccer in Seattle, with a particular interest in the city's MLS chances.

So what's the problem there? Some of the Sounders fans are crying sellout, and
Seattle Weekly is pouring petrol and Everclear all over the fire. Can't we just all get along and be one soccer nation under a groove?

Maybe you should find out what you're talking about BEFORE making yourself look like an a$$clown. If you had bothered to come over to the forums on soundercentral (now GoalSeattle) you would have discovered that the "feud" is nothing of the sort, that there were other reasons for the redesign of the website, and that most of what Huan Hsu wrote was taken out of context. BUT NO, instead you just decide to continue the sensationalism, and pour a little more fuel on the fire. If you want to write about a situation of which you are not a part of, maybe you should do what a REAL journalist would do; RESEARCH!

This is a blog...he's not a journalist, "real" or otherwise.

Dear thanatos80-

In the words of Charles the blunted hydroponic grower in Lock, Stock, & Two Smoking Barrels..."Chiiiiill Winston".

And yes, this is a BLOG. I am NOT a journalist, "real" or otherwise. I am a futbol fan who likes to talk about the game and the issues surrounding it in America.

Since you can't talk about it with anyone like baseball (do you think I can say "how about those Wizards?" to the guy next to me on the bus and him have a bloody clue what I'm on about?) or any other sport I choose to do that here instead of on my Myspace page.

SF - looks like you've picked up on what we were debating all of yesterday on GoalSeattle's foums. From what I can gather, David (he's known as GS-1) and Sean (Sounders4Life) are on EXACTLY the same page. The interviewer didn't bother meeting with either of them in person, instead deciding to conduct his interviews electronically. So what you have is an article that is really out of context.

For better or worse the article has struck a raw nerve. So that's why you've got T80 getting ticked. Are we in the ECS too defensive? Sure, we all have our faults. We're just passionate football fans and in the end that's what the brotherhood around this sport is all about.

Thanks for blogging about football and keep up the passion. Cheers!

Thanatos80 is actually right. The Seattle Weekly story gave totally the wrong picture. Yes, among the Sounders supporters there are some people who would like to focus on supporting the Sounders right now, and others who want to focus on getting MLS to Seattle. But there is no fire, and everybody's getting along with each other just fine.

The way thanatos80 presents himself (here and on other boards) makes it hard to take him seriously...

I believe Everclear is unavailable for sale in Washington. You'll have to come down to good ol' Oregon to get your delicious 190 proof . . .
