Captain Fantastic

Aside from Jeff Cunningham, the other player that really stuck out to me this past weekend was Claudio Reyna. The only DP to play on opening day, Captain America showed just why he is worth the money. With his deft back-heels, accurate passing, and speedy transitions to a defensive role his play was on a higher plane than those around him (the same could be said for D.C.'s Luciano Emilio). That's not to say that the rest of the players on the field were Kwame to his Big Daddy Kane; it's just that when they play alongside Reyna they have the ability to go from being Bell Biv Devoe to New Edition…..they look & feel much more complete, while possessing a broader range of creativity. Not to mention a marked increase in hit-making/goal-scored potential.

While on the subject of Reyna, check out this super-sized version of the trailer for "The Goal", his unreleased documentary. And if you haven't checked out Your Captain Needs You, check it out and get down with the movement.
